…every pantry has a story

May the fourth be with you…

This is my new backyard….

Cheesey title, oh yeah, but it’s a jumping off point for sure.  There have been a lot of changes in the last few months, all of which required compromise, which is basically what life is about. First change was moving, let me tell you, no matter how prepared you think you are, or that you don’t have that much stuff…you are wrong. Moving is awful, once you are passed that initial moving day, things progressively get better. Eventually, you are able to walk normally, and every movement you make does not cause a muscle spasm. Soon, you will find that your aversion to cardboard boxes and crumpled newspaper begins to abate. Once you have learned the layout of your new digs, you stop turning right out of the kitchen to go to your bedroom, when indeed you need to walk straight. Humans are trainable, well some of them.

One of my compromises was parting with a dear friend, one that got me through my multiple “year without an oven”, my grill. I am now living, in a no-grill zone, this time I hope that it really is only a year without a grill. My grill is being fostered, in a protective environment. Things even out, where there are minuses, plusses follow, I now have an oven. A real full-sized oven, I am having fun with the advantages of that. However, I still love my “easy bake oven”, as I called the toaster oven my Aunt and Uncle bought me. That truly is the brave little toaster oven! I produced, so many goodies from that marvel of tiny baking wonderfulness, people were always amazed. But, this was not the only change that has transpired, yes…but wait there’s more!

Right up there on the stress level charts, next to finding a new home, finding a new job, while you are finding a new home. Not exactly fun, trust me on that one, not something I ever want to repeat again. Finally, that too is behind me, I have found a new job, and it is good. In short I no longer work in the most toxic dysfunctional work environment ever witnessed. Now, I actually have to tolerate on a daily basis things such as, co-workers being nice to me, acknowledging my achievements, and actually being able to contribute ideas. Can we get an Amen…

So now that it’s all said and done, I am hoping that I will finally be able to channel some energy into this blog…I have NOLA pictures and stories to tell, and cooking to share…it’s all gravy now

Congratulations are certainly in order. Good for you! You can’t overstate the importance of a good working environment. I’m glad you’ve found one.

Thank you!!! I agree, a healthy work environment trumps many other perks. It was a struggle for sure, but worth it, nice to leave work, and still feel like I have brain cells left. Thanks for stopping by…
