…every pantry has a story
The tomato may be called UgliRipe, but the price made me cringe $6.99 a pound, yes that’s right $6.99.
That is almost 2 gallons of gasoline, you know it’s bad when we start comparing produce cost with gas cost…I opted for the $2.99 lb Roma tomatoes instead.
I long for my Grandfather’s garden he grew the most delicious tomatoes, nothing says summer more than eating a tomato still warm from the sun. In addition to gardening both vegetables and flowers, he was an avid fisherman. In brief he was born in 1900, he did a stint in the Navy, played semi-pro football, worked for B&O Railroad, with a lot more packed in between. I’ll have to get some pictures and post them, it’s my dream to replicate it someday hopefully very very soon.
